The boom in the sales of SUVs did not leave the people in the Škoda Auto management to sit with the arms crossed.
Although the Czech producer had waited a little longer to enter this segment, the Mladá Boleslav brand’s fans got what they wanted. The market shows that the demand for SUVs is still high.
Entering the Known Waters
If you find yourself in the front seats, you can see the T-shaped dashboard architecture in use. Controls and their layout adapt to modern trends. The Virtual Cockpit with excellent graphics appears in front of the driver’s eyes. An integral part is a multifunction steering wheel with suitably selected dimensions or an extensive touch screen infotainment in the center of the dashboard. The positive side is also manual adjustment of air conditioning/ventilation without the need for more complicated menu access. The materials look great, as well as the overall structure.
The front seats are comfortable, and the driver feels well behind the wheel with plenty of space. The second row of seats can be tilted flat; in addition, they can be moved longitudinally, and the backrest adjusted. For an extra charge, the third row of seats can be obtained, confirming with the above facts the high variability in the transport of persons or objects. The seven-seater layout has a good luggage space of 270 liters, and five seats at 565-765 liters, and after the second and third rows have been folded, a volume of impressive 2005 liters is created.
Powerful TDI Engine
The 2.0 TDI (140 kW/190 hp/3500-4000 rpm; 400 Nm/1900-3300 rpm) under the front hood gives the 4×4 and 7-speed DSG automatic acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 sec. Tandem engine (using selective catalytic reduction) and dual-clutch transmission can effectively use reliable tractive power, all-wheel-drive uses fifth-generation Haldex clutch. Adaptive chassis and choice of 4×4 driving profile with Off-road function (at an additional cost) ensure reliable driving characteristics, whether on the road or off-road.
Kodiaq also copes well with “straightening” unevennesses. In the bends, you know that this is a car with a higher gravity center. If you want to enjoy an even more dynamic ride, you can also get a precisely sporty version of the RS. The manufacturer states a combined fuel consumption of 6.2 – 7.6 liters of diesel/100 km. The richly equipped alternative of the Škoda Kodiaq 2.0 TDI 140 kW 7DSG 4×4 Style (€ 37,130) includes a number of features that can be complemented by additional comfort and safety features. That is why Kodiaq is a very attractive choice in its size SUV segment.
