Škoda Started in Le Mans

This year, Škoda Auto commemorates the 125th anniversary of its founding, but seventy years ago (June 24, 1950), a special Škoda Sport (weighing only 600 kg) took part in a 24-hour race at Le Mans. It was based on the Škoda 1101/1102 “Tudor”, a model powered by a liquid-cooled four-cylinder 1.1-liter engine (37 kW/50 hp) and started in the class up to 1100 cm3. Václav Bobek and Jaroslav Netušil were in second place in their class after 13 hours, but they suffered a technical failure. As part of the anniversary, Hans-Joachim Stuck also drove to the Austrian Alps with a Škoda Sport vehicle, starting in Formula 1, being an 18-time participant in Le Mans and winning twice with his crew.
