It all started seven years ago in Lipany, where a group of skilled people started producing spare parts for Volvo in a short time. Today, the company is one of the most successful employers with bold plans for the future.
We live in challenging times with a lack of job opportunities. Therefore, especially in areas where this phenomenon is more pronounced, they welcome the chance for change. BT-Form, based in the picturesque town of Lipany, offered many opportunities. It employed people from the region, and so together, they turn a business dream into a reality that enriches life between the Šariš Highlands and the Čergov Mountains.
The history of BT-Form is closely connected with the new development of cabins in Lipany since 2013. The main driving force was the relocation of cabs’ production for Volvo loaders from Germany to Lipany. Less than three months later, Team Industries managed to start production of cabins and at the same time create cooperation with the German company Matec. The former management of Team Industries perceived the production of plastics by vacuum forming as one of the key success factors for the production and assembly of the cabin, as plastics make up 25% of the cabin’s total price. At the same time, these are bulky, extremely aesthetic parts that are prone to damage and demanding to logistics. The import of pieces from 1,500 km far-away Germany proved to be very problematic. Hence, the managers seized this opportunity and, in 2014, as a separate division of Team Industries, began their activities in the former boiler room. Two years later, they became independent and developed their business under the name BT-Form s.r.o.
When Professionalism Meets Enthusiasm
However, not everything went smoothly; the beginnings were hampered by an unknown new thermoforming technology, unsuitable premises, and a lack of certification. They had to convince the customer of their professional qualities, so they started producing spare parts. When they proved that they could handle this demanding production, they convinced Volvo that they were ready for series production. The company became an authorized supplier for MSK MATEC and VOLVO. Thanks to the employees’ enthusiasm and professionalism, they developed to this high level in a record time of two years!
In Workshop and Academic Sphere
Today, they achieve sales of 2.4 million euros per year. They started with spare parts production, continued with serial production for the VOLVO L20 and L30 loaders, and later also for the RAVO and LIEBHERR. In 2019, they expanded production to include the supply and installation of roof boxes. All products are designed for the cabin industry, industrial machinery, and equipment for small and serial production.
In the coming years, they plan to build their hall in the industrial park, where they want to continue to innovate the technology of surface reinforcement of plastics, which would increase current production by 50 percent and at the same time more job opportunities. A great innovation program will move BT-Form among the most important European companies in this field in small and medium series production. An essential step in successful progress is hiring qualified staff. The company is looking for opportunities to implement long-term cooperation with local education or nearby universities for new plastics processing technologies.
